Library Technician and Assistants Bursary Committee: This would be a short-term commitment to assist us with creating the structure and guidelines for this new and exciting initiative. Please contact Karen Darby, Library Technician and Assistant Representative.

Freedom to Read Week Committee: Help us recognize Freedom to Read Week in Newfoundland (February 26th-March 3rd, 2012). Last year, the committee did a fabulous job of organizing a photo contest and this year we are open to any creative ideas or suggestion you may have! Please contact Kathryn Rose.

2012 Annual Conference Planning Committee: This year’s conference will take place on May 14. Please contact planning committee chair, Erin Alcock.

Freedom to Read Week 2011 Winning Poster!

Freedom to Read Week Poster 2011

We are pleased to announce that this year’s winner of the NLLA Freedom To Read photo contest is Hannah DeBourke for her photo “So Many Books, So Little Time”. Hannah is in the 8th grade, and is a student at St. Bonaventure’s College. Her colourful photo is the inspiration for this year’s poster, and is attached for everyone to see. Posters have also just been mailed to libraries across the province, so stay tuned for the arrival of your 2011 poster to display in your library.

We’re seeking photos about free expression, freedom from censorship, anything that promotes the written word or highlights the importance of reading to you or your community.
